📝 FULL TOUR DESCRIPTION
This unique cultural and historical experience takes you from Accra to Assin Manso, an important location in Ghana's history, before continuing to Cape Coast Castle.
Your experience begins with a traditional Akan Naming Ceremony. Participants are introduced to aspects of Akan naming traditions and receive an Akan name associated with the day of the week on which they were born. The ceremony provides an opportunity to learn about Akan cultural beliefs surrounding names, identity, personality and social heritage.
Participants may be dressed in traditional attire as part of the ceremony and receive a certificate and other ceremony items.
Following the ceremony, explore the Assin Manso Slave River Site, including the area associated with the last bath of enslaved Africans before their forced journey toward the coast.
Continue to Cape Coast Castle, where a professional guide provides historical context about the castle, its dungeons, condemn cells and its connection to the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
The tour also introduces the significance of the Door of No Return and the later symbolism of the Door of Return, reflecting the connection between Ghana and members of the African diaspora who returned to Ghana.
